2021 has been a year full of challenges and lessons learned, but it has also brought about moments of hope towards a brighter future. The Terra View team, along with our wonderful homeowners and fellow community members have all played a significant part in commemorating this year in particular—as we celebrated 30 years in business and achieved some major milestones.
Before we head into the New Year, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from 2021:
We Celebrated 30 Years in Business
Our story began in 1991 with a simple mission: to build communities that will stand the test of time—with an emphasis on architecture, quality craftsmanship and energy efficiency. Terra View Homes has since been dedicated to building with integrity while pioneering green home building and sustainability practices. We’ve accomplished a lot over the years, with our 30th year being no exception. As we continue to give back to our broader community and celebrate new ventures, milestones and innovations, we’re always looking ahead to what’s possible.
“The significance of this milestone is a testament to the combined efforts of our forward thinking leadership, long-tenured employees and dedicated trade partners in ensuring that we are always exceeding expectations for our homeowners while creating sustainable and resilient communities.”
— Andrew Lambden, founder and CEO
Here’s to the next 30 years and beyond!
We Continued to be Industry Leaders in Green Building
At Terra View Homes, we believe that it is our responsibility to lead by example and practice environmentally conscious building. As one of the first area home builders to build exclusively ENERGY STAR® homes beginning in 2006, including the construction of one of the first Platinum LEED certified homes in Canada, we’ve been consistently recognized for the lasting and positive impact we are making on Ontario communities—with 2021 giving us many reasons to celebrate.
Some significant accomplishments from this year include:
- Being named Green Builder of the Year in April by the Guelph & District Home Builders’ Association (GDHBA) for our commitment to green building within the Guelph community
- We were awarded EnerQuality top industry awards at this year’s #EQAwards in the categories of EnerQuality ENERGY STAR® for New Homes – Small/Custom Builder and Net Zero Builder for our commitment to building Net Zero and Net Zero Ready homes and communities
- Our #HomeOwnerHowTo video series successfully gave homeowners more confidence in navigating their Net Zero Ready/Net Zero homes, to which we were awarded the Best Green Marketing Campaign Award by EnerQuality
We are proud to have added 29 ENERGY STAR certified new homes to our portfolio in the last two years, and to have achieved completion on 63 Net Zero and Net Zero Ready homes to date—with many more in our future.
We Achieved Milestones on the Development of our Communities
NiMa Trails
This year, we made significant progress on NiMa Trails, digging our first foundation for a model home in October. This longtime “labour of love” is a 330-plus unit, Net Zero Ready community in Guelph’s north end that will consist of single detached homes, semi-detached homes, townhomes, as well as condominium apartment units.
The construction of this 15-years-in-the-making community is fully underway and plans to begin selling homes is in the works. We look forward to welcoming residents home in 2022!
Hart Village
The historic Hart Farm Homestead, one of the oldest surviving farmhouses in Guelph and Puslinch Township, is being transformed and brought back to life in Hart Village. It is an honour to be given the opportunity to restore the Hart Home to its original beauty while preserving its rich history and allowing Hart Village residents a special experience unique to Guelph.
We look forward to providing more updates on the Hart Farm Homestead in 2022—once complete, it will serve as a community gathering space suitable for short stays and hosting celebrations.
We Gave Back to our Community
In 2021, we celebrated our 30 Year Anniversary in the only way we knew how, by giving back to our community. Supporting the sustainability and resiliency of our communities is ingrained in our values and culture, which is why we gave 30 donations to 30 different charities to commemorate an incredible 30 years in business.
We Celebrated our Homeowners and Trade Partners
In 2021, we continued to showcase our incredible homeowners through our Homeowner Spotlight series. We know that hearing from a current homeowner can be a valuable experience for prospective buyers, which is why putting the spotlight back on our experts and current homeowners has been such a success.
We have loved getting to know the faces behind why we do what we do!
We also hosted a Trades Appreciation lunch at our Hart Village construction site for our dedicated trade partners. We’re so grateful for all of the hard work they put into making our communities come to life!
We Caught Attention
We’re always thankful to have our hard work featured by local and national media outlets.
Some highlights from 2021 include:
- We are proud to have been featured in Guelph Today for articles on Giving Tuesday, our 30 Year Anniversary, the benefits of Net Zero Homes, 5 tips for living sustainably, and more!
- Our most notable media hit of the year was being featured as the cover story for Canadian Contractor magazine—they sat down with us to cover the history of Terra View Homes, our resilient custom home building process, and our plans for the next 30 years
With more to come!
